You can find a small group of Halloween costumes in a store around your house. However, when you consider the cost and lack of originality, homemade costumes are a more fun and oftentimes more cost-effective option. Plus, if you involve your children in creating the homemade costumes, the results will be worth more than any store-bought costume in any store.

Here are some inexpensive, homemade Halloween costume ideas that will cost little money and show lots of imagination.

A Scarecrow is a good idea a big flannel shirt with faded blue jeans with patches, stuff with straw or paper and a bucket hat and make up. Stuff the jeans and shirt with plastic grocery bags and leave a little straw hanging out of the shirt and jeans. A little makeup will complete your scarecrow costume.

Ghost are easy and a  costume that never dies. Use an old white sheet with holes cut for the eyes and sew a simple treat bag out of a scrap of material or a worn out pillow case. You can dress your ghost up a bit by making lips out of red lipstick and a few false eyelashes. And if you have a boy beards and mustaches would be the better way to go. There’s no wrong way to make your ghost so polka dots and brightly colored sheets aren’t out of the question.

Creating a clown Halloween costume is easy and fun all you need is sweat clothes and fabric pain or markers if you don’t want the clothes .  You can so a few patches get a stick and a handkerchief for your candy bag and be a bum clown get creative .

A hippy would be fun get an old pair of jeans add extra fabric at the bottom a bandana for you head and maybe a small sign that says make peace not war. You can even add a vest with fringe they’d be a real hippy costume that will make you soar into the past.

Being a nerd for Halloween would be fun Halloween is a time to have lots of clean fun a do stuff that’s out of the normal. You or your child could dress as a typical nerd like the ones they portray on TV. you know the ones white button up shirt high water pants that are to small and pulled past the belly button suspenders and the white socks that go clear past your knees . Don’t forget to tape one corner of the glasses for a true nerd appearance. Oh don’t forget to use lots of hair gel to slick your hair back and some goofy buck teeth would put the icing on the cake.

Soda Can: Find an inexpensive plastic barrel and cut a hole in the bottom. Paint the entire barrel the colors and design of your favorite brand of soda in a can. {With holes for arms and your head, a simple barrel can transform your child into a soda can.}

Your kids or kid will be a the hit of the party no matter where you go and the homemade Halloween costumes will be a hit with your friends.
